オーストラリアは以前から学生ビザで合法的に週20時間までバイトができた。

他の主要な留学生受入国も、同様にバイトが認められるケースはあるが、オーストラリアと比べると、条件が厳しく制限も大きい。

今回、留学生に魅力あるそんな制度をすでに持つオーストラリアが、さらに留学生が働く（週20時間以内のバイト)ことが、より簡単にできるようにした。

変更点
以前は、バイトに着く前に申請をしなければならなかったのが、この改正で学校コースが始まれば、申請無しにすぐパートタイムで働けるようになった。

Australia streamlines work rights

In Australia, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship,
Chris Evans, as announced that international students can now
automatically work for up to 20 hours a week while their
course is in session.

Previously foreign students had to apply separately for
permission to work, but now international students can apply
for part-time jobs as soon as their courses start. Evans
commented, "The current system was actually disadvantaging the
students and disadvantaging the Australian economy."
